JOHN OGLE
Old Maple Leaf Ward E
*near the red brick building lies
this grave stone for Ellen Jane Ogle
wife of John Ogle. The stone being about
137 years old, it would be a shame
to see it disappear completely below
the soil.

**EXAMPLE OF WHY IT IS NOT GOOD
TO PLANT TREES OR SHRUBS!
*hidden in a little grove of young seedlings,
this little grave stone came to light when

HARRISOML ~ A

Old Maple Leaf Ward A
*this is an extreme example of what can
happen when a fallen tablet is left lying
against a tree. The tree base has
swallowed up part of this tablet.
*to preserve this stone poses a great
problem. Will it be removed safely, a
decision still to be pondered.

WAUGHOML ~ A
Old Maple Leaf Ward A

MARION WAUGH
* this stone for Marion Waugh is an example
of a stone that is slowly sinking. The earth
was cleared from around it to be able to
photograph it. If something isn't done soon,
in a few years it will be hidden from view.

OML ~ DOld Maple Leaf Ward D
*this darling little grave stone of
Sarah Leeming who died, April 13, 1911,
has weathered the elements for many years,
but has lost part of it's battle with the top
cross being broken. So it sits patiently
awaiting repairs. But when?

*these stones were all found lying stacked
on top of one another under the soil.
Paul Thorpe and another volunteer, dug them
out and worked to stand all of them upright.
*standing upright helps to protect from some of
the elements of mother nature, such as water freezing
and cracking them, and natural debris lying and destroying them.
*these can be found next to the large flat grave
marker of Abraham D. Shadd in Old M.L. Ward A
