1764 - 1850

John Colbrook Bury, architect, builder
millwright and pioneer, with his wife Elizabeth
and their family landed at the mouth of Clear
Creek in the County of Kent on April 29, 1816.

Subsequently John Colbrook and his two eldest
sons, Phillip and William took possesson of the

became the final resting place of John Colbrook

Years of neglect took its toil of this burial plot
until the spring of 1986 when concerned
descendants and interested friends took action
to have this carin erected and the site preserved
in memory of Orford's pioneer family
