1ST MAYOR OF TOWN OF CHATHAM IS REMEMBERED
The present Mayor Darrin Canniff, Cemetery Supervisor- Collin Mardling, Smyth Memorial Rep. Dawne Milne & the person who
brought this to fruition, Retired Dentist, Dr. Bruce Warwick of Chatham, who took it upon himself to have the monument installed in 2023.

Born in Montreal, Died in Chatham, Ont.
Alexander was the 1st Mayor of the
town of Chatham.
His wife is interred in a grave beside him.
In year 2023 there has been a
Monument installed by Dr. Bruce Warwick of Chatham, ON.

Alexander was the very 1st Mayor of the
town of Chatham, Ont., Canada
He reposes in Old Maple Leaf Cemetery, Ward A
A monument to honor him was installed in year of 2023.
Dr. Bruce Warwick of Chatham, Ont., after research thought it was only proper Alexander should have a monument and be remembered.

of the old mausoleum next
to the driveway and the front road.

* retired from council in 1955 to run for Mayor
* owned Stirling Variety, on Park St. Chatham
* Stirling Park named after his father
* was very involved in sports and had
great hopes for Fergie Jenkins, Chatham's
famous baseball player.
