The Mills and Morehouse Cemeteries

Little is known about the history of these two cemeteries though one is the cemetery on the home farm of HON. DAVID, J. S. C. MILLS. We know that although there is no fence here now the cemetery was formerly located right on the line fence between two farms. i.e. the fence split both cemeteries down the middle. Part of each was on one side and part on the other. This was often done to allow two families to donate land for one cemetery.

We also believe that the Morehouse Cemetery was LIKELY in front of the Mills. There is enough room in the Morehouse for two caskets placed end to end. Then, there is a small walkway of less than a meter in width. Then the larger Mills Cemetery. The Mills Cemetery begins almost exactly where the old metal posts are located that form the corner posts for the fence around the Hon David Mills grave site, and carries on back from there.

It is known that Hon David J S C Mills was buried facing directly to the East. i.e. at an angle to the roads in the region and the farm lanes. The monument was placed at 90 degrees to the road for looks only.
