Some History of The Palmyra Cemetery

With Thanks to Pete Eberle

The land for the Palmyra Cemetery and Church we were told was donated by an Eberle around 1830. The Church though was actually on a different tract of land. The Eberle's owned three places each with about 80 acres. So they donated land for the cemetery from one tract. Land for the Church for another. And they lived on the third.

The Cemetery is still in use to this day, but it is now a community cemetery, and has lost it's Baptist orientation over the years.

When interviewing for these little write-ups we often ask if burials were done in winter and the answer was always the same. Oh yes. People just worked through the frost. You soon learn to admire those people.
