Some History of The St Patrick's Cemetery

St Patrick's was another of the earlier cemeteries that continue on to this day, opening in around 1855. The Church it is believed began at this same approximate time as well. The land for the Cemetery it is thought was donated by a member of the McKeon family, and quite probably a member of the Dillon family.

The St Peter's Church at Prairie Siding at 5425 Tecumseh Road today it is said was used until this Church and Cemetery were built. However, in those early times it was simply found to be too difficult to attend services over the terrible roads when that distance was involved, so it was decided to build a church nearer by.
