The Traxler / McMullin Cemetery

Caution! You must walk through private property to get to this cemetery! The cemetery itself is on private property.

The Traxler Cemetery in Harwich is located on a very old farm located along the River Thames. Not only does that farm have one of our old Pioneer Cemeteries on it, but it is also involved with the History of the Battle of the Thames of the War of 1812.

To find the Traxler Cemetery stand at the sign for the Tecumseh Parkway. From there walk directly straight to the river. Right near you will see the cemetery right along the river's edge in a fair size group of trees. Part of the cemetery is likely being claimed by the Old River.

SEE the monuments that remain today in the cemetery. MANY graves though no longer have markers today. Many were likely wooden crosses that have long since disappeared.

We know VERY little about this Cemetery's History and in fact little more about the history of the farm. Much of that is lost with time. However, we can give you some of the names of people who are probably buried in the old cemetery. Just have a look at the following names. Some of these folks very likely lie today in the graves where the old wooden markers are now so very long gone!

We caution that this should NEVER be used for genealogical research. It is known that some family connections here are disputed! NEVER use this to research your family history! This should be taken simply as a list of names to be viewed as possible links to burials in the old cemetery. In an effort to try to keep people from using this for genealogy it is being presented in a less appropriate manner!

Again, we stress that the following people are NOT all interred in Traxler Cemetery but we believe that a number of them probably are. Lack of markers though makes identification impossible..
